The TALENT Erasmus+ Sport project held its Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) in Athens, Greece, from November 23–24, 2023. Hosted by project partner KMOP, the meeting brought together representatives from all partner organizations, including those from Greece, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and others.
Throughout the two-day meeting, partners discussed key findings from the focus groups conducted under Work Package 2 (WP2). The discussions highlighted challenges in identifying and supporting talented children in various national contexts—such as the lack of structured cooperation between schools and sports clubs, limited training resources for teachers and coaches, and the importance of involving parents and specialized physical education experts early in children’s development.
One of the central topics of the meeting was the continued development of the E-STOP Platform and the accompanying Methodology Handbook, which will serve as the basis for training materials in the upcoming project phases. It was agreed that the educational modules will consist of a theoretical overview, real-life case studies from school and sports settings, and self-assessment tools. The first drafts of training materials are expected by the next TPM in June 2024.
Dissemination efforts were also a key agenda point. Upcoming activities include newsletters, the creation of a promotional video featuring partner experiences, and the publication of scientific papers in the special issue of Frontiers on dual careers. Each partner will also carry out at least two promotional events in their local contexts.
The meeting concluded with planning for future activities, including the next TPM in Larnaca, Cyprus, scheduled for June 2024, and a potential final meeting in Sarajevo in November 2024.
The Athens meeting reinforced the strong collaboration among project partners and laid the groundwork for the successful continuation of the TALENT project, which aims to build a more structured approach to identifying and supporting talented children in sport and education.
