We are proud to announce the publication of the Methodological Handbook with Standards for the Detection and Assessment of the Potential of Talented Children in Sport—a key deliverable of the TALENT project.
Developed through intensive international collaboration between experts from seven partner countries, the Handbook provides a comprehensive framework for identifying, assessing, and nurturing young sporting talents. It outlines a structured model of talent development, combining practical tools, case studies, and evidence-based methodologies.
The Handbook addresses a long-standing gap in the standardisation of talent detection in sport and offers clear guidelines for educators, coaches, sports professionals, and policy makers. From early childhood motor development to ethical considerations in talent transfer, the document serves as a critical resource for building inclusive, supportive, and effective systems for youth sport development.
This Handbook is available in English and will soon be translated into partner languages. It will also be integrated into the TALENT project’s E-STOP platform and serve as the basis for the upcoming training modules.
